 Course Assignments Textbook readings and video presentations Course Requirements Checklist After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations (https://www.liberty.edu/institutional-effectiveness/student-expectations/), the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.  Discussion: Analysis of Strengths & Needs The student will submit a thread to reflect on feedback from Chapter 3, Part One and Chapter 3, Part Two as he/she incorporates the Supervisor’s input into the final draft of Chapter Three. The student will reflect on both strengths and needs revealed within the process. (CLO: B, C) Comprehensive Exam: Journal Article Proposal Assignment The first comprehensive exam requires the student to write an article related to the intended research dissertation topic. In preparation for that part of the exam, the student must write a brief proposal (two page maximum) to be submitted to the professor for approval. The proposal must include a list of 10 shcolarly resources cited in current APA style. (CLO: A) rd Comprehensive Exam: Journal Article Assignment Based on the proposal submitted, the student must prepare and submit a publishable article on an approve topic relevant to the dissertation that explores a gap in the literature. This paper must follow the instructions provided within the course and must demonstrate that the student has a grasp of the literature and an ability to integrate themes developed in the coursework. (CLO: A) Comprehensive Exam: Research Method Paper Assignment The student must prepare an 8-10 page research paper on the research methodology that he or she intends to use in the Prospectus/Dissertation research work following instructions provided within the course. This paper must demonstrate that the student has a “comprehensive knowledge” of the methodology to be used in the dissertation. (CLO: A) Prospectus Chapter Three: Part One — First Draft Assignment For these assignments, the student will write and submit a rough draft of the Research Prospectus Chapter Three, Part One of a potential research Prospectus. This draft will follow the outline for either the quantitative or qualitative Prospectus as presented in the Christian Leadership Doctoral Handbook. The drafts must utilize the template provided. If a mixed-method approach is employed, the student must create a hybrid version of the outline modified appropriately for the research problem and design. The draft must be a minimum of 8 pages and follow current APA style requirements. (CLO: B) Prospectus Chapter Three: Part Two — First Draft Assignment For these assignments, the student will write and submit a rough draft of the Research Prospectus Chapter Three, Part Two of a potential research Prospectus. This draft will follow the outline for either the quantitative or qualitative Prospectus as presented in the Christian Leadership Doctoral Handbook. The drafts must utilize the template provided. If a mixed-method approach is employed, the student must create a hybrid version of the outline modified appropriately for the research problem and design. The draft must be a minimum of 8 pages in addition to Part One and must follow current APA style requirements. (CLO: B) Prospectus Chapter Three: Final Draft Assignment For this assignment, the student will write and submit a final draft of the third chapter of his/her Research Prospectus. This draft will follow the outline for either the quantitative or qualitative Prospectus as presented in the Christian Leadership Doctoral Handbook. The draft must carefully follow the template provided. If a mixed-method approach is employed, the student must create a hybrid version of the outline modified appropriately for his/her research problem and design. The final draft of Chapter Three must be a minimum of 16 pages and follow current APA style requirements. (CLO: C) Quiz: Initial Consultation Report It is the responsibility of the student to make contact with the assigned Dissertation Supervisor (mentor) via email to schedule a video conference call. The conference should be scheduled for a one hour time slot during the first week of the course at a time that works best for the Dissertation Supervisor. The intent of the conference is to review the proposed study with the Supervisor and to answer general questions that either the Supervisor or student might raise. Quiz: Assembly of the Research Profile and Research Prospectus This quiz is designed to ensure that the necessary artifacts, the Research Profile and Research Prospectus, are assembled in preparation for working with the student’s Supervisor. In addition, the student will reaffirm that he/she has read and is aware of the institution’s Honor Code – specifically related to plagiarism, progression in the program and alignment with program expectations.
