Qualitative Pilot Study Grading Rubric

Instructions
After gaining pre-approval, gathering data and carrying out your analysis,
this is the final product. It should contain all 6 parts: Introduction, Review
of Literature, Methods, Analysis, Discussion, Conclusion. The final length
should be 15-20 pages and will be graded based on your ability to mirror
the best practices from the Tracy text. Be sure to attach the required data
as an appendix to your study as well (SEFE 896: Transcripts). These do
not count as pages in your writing. (50pts)

10-0 Points

Methods – 1-2 pages, clear and concise

  • Describes how the study will take place
  • Appropriate design for a qualitative study

5-0 Points

Analysis – 1-2 pages, clear and concise

  • Describes the process used to analyze the
    data gathered in the study
  • Appropriate analysis techniques used for
    study design

5-0 Points

Discussion – 5-10 pages, clear and concise

  • Describes the findings gleaned from the
    pilot study
  • Findings are appropriately characterized
    given the small size of the study
  • Addresses how these findings connect to
    the literature on the topic

15-0 Points

Conclusion – 1-2 pages, clear and concise

  • Summarizes the key findings in the study
  • Describes the limitations of the study
  • Suggests future research potential

10-0 Points

  • Distracting grammar and/or spelling mistakes will result in the study
    being returned to you for further editing before a grade can be issued.
