The teacher candidate will choose ONE picture book that is Realistic Fiction from any children’s book selection. The student will create a 3-sided poster that includes: Left side(Author): A biography of the author, significant publications, elements that make this author unique. Discuss how knowing about the author helps you to teach “author’s purpose” to your students. Add various pictures. Middle side (Book Information): A summary, theme, and genre of this book. Align a reading standard and an art standard to your poster along with a grade level. Pick out and label 5 objects (total) for plot, characters, setting, theme, and tone. Add various pictures. Right side (Teaching Information) Provide three (3) activities of how to teach this picture book into a lesson within your future classroom. (text to text, text to self, and text to world). Then, pick (2) apps that align to your book and tell how you would use it. Add various pictures.
