ANSWER:

Effects of second-hand smoke inhalation in early life

  1. Introduction

Second-hand smoke is a significant problem in most households all over the world. In the US, almost 13 individuals out of a hundred people aged above 18 years smoke cigarettes. This translates to an estimated 30.8 million adults in the US who smoke cigarettes(cdc.gov, 2022). Second-hand smoke is very detrimental to children as they grow and affects their early life significantly (cdc.gov, 2022). Understanding the various effects of second-hand smoke on early life is crucial as it may open up avenues on how to deal with these effects and avoid them.

  1. Problem Statement

The healthcare department has long recognized the need to identify the effects of second-hand smoke in early life in order to cater to children’s health. However, determining that some effects result from second-hand smoke in early life and are not arising from other issues has been challenging and an issue that can be solved by understanding these effects better (Ksinan et al., 2020). Almost every child has been a passive smoker at one point in their lives, affecting them to some point. A child’s early life is a critical point in life as it determines the health status of the child as they grow and even when they are adults. It is, therefore, essential that we identify the various effects of second-hand smoke inhalation in early life so that we can be able to find possible solutions and treatments. In particular, the following research questions should be addressed:

  • What are the typical effects associated with second-hand smoke inhalation in early life?
  • How can these effects be classified for easier identification?
  • What are the current measures and interventions that help in identifying these effects?
  1. Objectives

The long-term goal of the research is to identify the specific effects of second-hand smoke inhalation in early life. Second-hand smoke inhalation entails when an individual is present in a place where active smoking of any substance occurs. The objective of the current study is to identify how a child’s early life is affected by reviewing various research conducted on the issue. The following are the specific sub-objectives:

  • To comprehensively review the possible causes of smoke inhalation in early life.
  • To develop a specific classification for smoke inhalation effects
  • To review current procedures used for identifying effects arising from early life smoke inhalation.

The results of this study will be precious to the healthcare community as it will provide healthcare providers with a horn blower for when to test for exposure to smoke inhalation by providing a list of possible effects.

  1. Research Question

The research question for our study is “What are the effects of Effects of second-hand smoke inhalation in early life?” We will be applying a null hypothesis in the study.

Ho: there are no particular effects tied to second-hand smoke inhalation in early life.

  1. Study Variable

The following are the study variables that will be used for this study:

  • Age of individuals when they were exposed to second-hand smoke inhalation
  • Frequency of smoke inhalation

The following variables are significant in identifying various effects of smoke inhalation. Age will enable us to classify the effects in terms of the likelihood of them occurring when the individual was exposed to smoke inhalation at a certain age and the number of times per day or week they were exposed.
